Fenixstadion – KRC Genk arena – stadium poster

Fenixstadion is the proud home of KRC Genk. The history of this impressive arena dates back to before the birth of the “Blauw-Wit”. In 1988, the two Genk clubs Waterschei Thor and KFC Winterslag merged to form Koninklijk Racing Club Genk. Initially, KFC Winterslag’s former stadium De Nordlaan served as Genk’s home ground for the first two years of the club’s existence. Afterwards, Racing moved to Winterslag’s old ground, where a new main stand had been built. Due to Genk’s success in the 1990s, the club now needed a more modern football ground. This led to a rebuilding of the stadium, and the new Felixstadion opened in 1999.
