Manchester United – Champions of Europe 2008

Manchester United was truly a force to be reckoned with in the 2007/08 season. They had one of the greatest teams the Premier League had ever seen. Their backline consisted of greats like Edwin Van Der Sar in goal, Patrice Evra, and the legendary pairing of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. The midfield was stacked with talent like Giggs, Nani, Scholes, Carrick and Hargreaves. However, it was up front where United was out of the world. An attacking force of Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo would strike terror in any defence they faced.

In the 2008 Champions League final “the Red Devils” cemented their position as the greatest team in the world.
Here they faced Chelsea in an exciting affair in Moscow.
The Mancunians were off to a good start. Just short of the half-hour mark Cristiano Ronaldo made it 1-0 for United. Afterwards, an equaliser from Frank Lampard made it 1-1. As none of the two teams managed to score again, the final had to be decided in a penalty shootout.
Then Chelsea captain John Terry slipped and the rest is history.
