Molineux – Wolverhampton Wanderers arena – stadium poster

Just north of Wolverhampton city centre lies the legendary Molineux Stadium, which is home to the city’s pride Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. This football ground is one of the oldest in England, and it has a long and rich history. Molineux was the first-ever stadium built for a Football League club, and in 1953 it became one of the first British grounds to have floodlights installed. This led to the famous “floodlit friendlies”, where Wolves played televised games against big overseas clubs from 1953 to 1957. These international games would end up paving the way for what we now know as the Champions League.
