Few other football stadiums embody the spirit of a club and a community like Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Located in Köpenick, this legendary stadium is the home of 1. FC Union Berlin. “Eisern Union” is a club for the people and the fans, and this stadium is a true testament to that. In 2008/2009, the club lacked the necessary funds to renovate the ground. Therefore the fans decided to do it themselves. Thanks to over 2300 volunteers and 140.000 hours of labour, a redeveloped Stadion An der Alten Försterei opened in 2013. This is a proper football stadium built both for and by the fans.
